Carol Elizabeth Walker Dale, 79, of Morganton, NC was received by the Lord on Friday, August 8, 2014 at the Burke Hospice House after an extended illness. Born in McDowell County, NC on November 3, 1934, she was the daughter of the late James Pender Walker and Pearl Elizabeth Gibbs Walker. Carol was a member of First Baptist Church in Morganton. She retired from Skyland Textiles and then worked as a substitute teacher with Burke County Public Schools. Carol was a loving caregiver to her husband.
Mrs. Dale is survived by her son, Frank M. Dale, Jr. and his wife, Mary, of Knoxville, TN; daughters, Susan Dale and Frances Dale, both of the home; grandchildren, Michael and Jessica Dale of the home; and Emma, Natalie, Karina, and Ilse Dale of Knoxville; a number of nieces and nephews; and her faithful canine companion, Ruby.
In addition to her parents, Carol was preceded in death by her husband, Frank McRoy Dale, Sr.; and siblings, Ernest, Clinton, and Frances.
The funeral will be held at 4:00 p.m., Sunday, August 10, 2014 at First Baptist Church in Morganton with Dr. Thomas A. Bland, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends in the church parlor from 2:30 until 4:00 p.m. prior to the service.
