Carlette Norman McKinney, 83, of Morganton, North Carolina, passed away on March 16, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family. Born and raised in Morganton, Carla lived a life rooted in faith, family, and community. She was a devoted daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. Known for her strong will, independence, and loving heart, Carla brought joy and laughter to those around her with her humor and unmistakable presence. Carla found great happiness in singing in the church choir, spending time with her family and friends, and taking her cherished annual beach trips. She never missed her favorite soap operas and always enjoyed a good meal out. Her Sunday lunches were a treasured tradition, where family gathered and memories were made. Affectionately known as the “Queen of Hartland,” she carried herself with a fierce and fabulous spirit that left a lasting impression on everyone she met.

She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Jarrett and husband Harry; her granddaughters, Sophia White, Olivia White, Cheyenne Jarrett Triano and husband, Mike; ; her great-granddaughter, Wren O’Neal; her brothers, Warren Norman and wife Susan, and Larry Norman and wife Linda; along with many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne McKinney; her daughter, Angela McKinney; her mother, Clara Norman; brother, Johnny Norman; and her nephew, Johnathan Norman.

A memorial service will be held at Hartland Baptist Church on Sunday, March 29, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. Carla’s legacy of love, strength, and unwavering devotion to her family will live on in all who knew her. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
