Carl Bennett Dellinger

Carl Bennett Dellinger, 81, of Nebo, NC passed away Thursday, November 08, 2018.  Born October 21, 1937 in Burke County, he was a son of the late Ben Dellinger and Essie Flynn Dellinger.

Mr. Dellinger was a member of Bridgewater Presbyterian Church.  He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family dearly.  He was employed at Henredon Furniture for over 30 years then moved to EJ Victor where he retired as manager of the veneer department.  He loved to fish and bear hunt, but he especially enjoyed working at Linville Rivers End Campground where everyone loved him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Esslee Bell Clark Dellinger; brothers, J. C. and Alvin Dellinger; sister, Dorothy Crooks; and brother-in-law, Johnny Johnson.

Mr. Dellinger is survived by daughter, Carla Lane (Scott); son, Greg Dellinger (Kelly) of Clemmons; granddaughters, Sierra and Chloe Dellinger; grandson, Brandon Smith (Larrisa); sisters, Laura Mae Johnson and Sue Chapman; brother, Ray Dellinger (Hazel); sister-in-law, Pearl Dellinger; brother-in-law, Jim Crooks; and was a father figure to many nephews, nieces, and extended family.

The family will receive friends from 6 – 8 p.m., Sunday, November 11, 2018 at Sossoman Funeral Home.  The funeral will be held at 2 p.m., Monday, November 12 in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Dan Hensley officiating.  Burial will follow at Oak Grove Baptist Church.
