Calvin Alexander Carswell, 87, of Glen Alpine, NC passed away Monday, August 19, 2019 at his home. Born on April 17, 1932, he was the son of the late Ben Alexander Carswell and Allie Belle Allman Whisnant. Calvin was a member of Calvary Freewill Baptist Church.
Calvin is survived by his faithful canine companion, Bobo; daughters, Susan Fox and Wayne Shores, Debbie Miller (Dallas); grandchildren, Phil Leonard (Christie), Alisha Duckworth (Josh), Hannah Rhodes, Eric Fox, Calvin Rhodes (Chelsea), Jennifer and Kaleb Nicholson, Clinton and Ben Miller; great grandchildren, Caden Rhodes, Lily Leonard, Anslee Duckworth, Wesson Duckworth, Neecey Nicholson, Elden Nicholson; brother Leroy Carswell; half-brother, Paul Whisnant; half-sister, Faye Glazebrook.
In addition to his parents, Calvin is preceded in death by his wife, Margie Lee Benfield Carswell; daughter, Barbara Rhodes; brother, James Carswell.
The family will receive friends from 4 – 5 p.m., Thursday, August 22, 2019 at Calvary Freewill Baptist Church. The funeral service will be held at 5 p.m. in the church with the Revs. Freddy and Leonard Lindsey officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park. Military honors will be provided by the NC National Guard and Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
Memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Freewill Baptist Church.
