Buna Rollins Hitt, 94, Morganton, NC died Monday, May 8, 2006 at Britthaven of Morganton following a period of declining health. She was born March 13, 1912 in Cleveland County, NC, and was a daughter of the late John Harve Rollins and Docia Hughes Rollins. In addition to her parents, Buna was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Wade Hitt; three brothers and five sisters. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Morganton, and a member of the Women’s Club of Morganton. Buna enjoyed boating and water skiing.
She is survived by her son, Wayne Weaver Hitt of Morganton; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, May 11, 2006 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Thomas A. Bland, Jr. officiating. Entombment will follow at Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends Thursday one hour before the service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, PO Drawer 459, Morganton, NC 28680-0459.
