Bronson King, 81, of Morganton, NC went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, November 19, 2011. Born in Caldwell County, NC on March 11, 1930, he was the son of the late John Robey King and Zora Ella Nelson King. Bronson was a lifetime member of Victory Chapel Missionary Baptist Church. He retired from Western Carolina Center and had worked at Drexel Heritage and Broughton Hospital. He loved to farm and garden.Bronson is survived by his wife of 53 years, Geneva Lingafelt King of the home; daughters, Vanessa King Williamson and husband, Tony, of Rutherfordton, NC and Ramona King Clark and husband, Chris, of Morganton; grandchildren, Seth Clark, Joshua Williamson, and Leah Williamson; a brother, Benson King and wife, Judy; sisters, Nina Loven and husband, Sterling, Evelyn Pennington and husband, Gerald, and Peggy Laxton and husband, Ted; and a number of nieces and nephews.In addition to his parents, Bronson was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruby King Taylor and Shirley King McElyea.The funeral will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, November 22, 2011 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center with Reverends Luther Carver, Kenneth Frady, and John McCarty officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m.Memorial contributions may be made to Victory Chapel Baptist Church, 427 Lost Corner Road, Morganton, NC 28655.
