Brenda Morris Sparks, 76, of Spruce Pine, NC, passed away Sunday, October 12, 2025.
Born in Burke County, NC on July 26, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Carl Morris and Lula Mae Short Morris.
Brenda was a member of Mt. Home Baptist Church and loved the Lord and her church. She retired from Grace Hospital. Brenda had an amazing sense of humor, was always laughing, and never took life too seriously. She loved animals and watching Golden Girls.
Those left to cherish her memory include her grandchildren, Shelby Hopson (Joshua) and Raphael Tehandon (and family); grandson, Miguel Tehandon (and family); great-grandchildren, Liam and Marlee Hopson; cousin, Keith Blevins (Derinda); best-friends, Tamara Hartley and Faith Thompson; three step-children; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Brenda was preceded in death by her husband, Parnell Sparks; step-daughter, Deena Dickinson; special aunt, Sharleen Blevins; special uncle, Zane Short; and several other aunts and uncles.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Saturday, October 18, 2025 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Ethan Cromer officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
