Brenda Keaton Crane, 79, of Morganton, NC, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2026.

Born in Burke County, NC on October 19, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Carl Alex Keaton and Elsie Bandy Keaton.

Brenda was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She loved her family and the time she got to spend with them. Brenda also enjoyed reading, cooking excellent meals, and thrifting to always find the best deals. She was kind to everyone she met.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 61 years, Bill Crane; children, Kimberly Smith (Scotty) and Ray Crane (Sherry); grandchildren, Maria Seitz, Tory Smith, Kayla Tallent, Ashley Chapman, and Keleigh Smith; nine great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Virginia Keaton and Tammy Keaton; and numerous extended family.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Wednesday, August 12, 2026 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 3 p.m. in the church with Rev. Douglas Price officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

I am very saddened to learn of her passing. She worked at my son’s daycare, and I remember all the kids calling her mawmaw. She was such a sweet soul, and she will be greatly missed!
