Brandon Lee Roper, 16, of Morganton, NC gained his angel wings on Saturday, December 30, 2017. He was born May 9, 2001 in Burke County, NC and was the son of Chasity Ross Roper of Morganton and the late Brent Lee Roper. Brandon was a loving, sweet son who enjoyed playing video games and watching his favorite football team, the Dallas Cowboys. But most of all, he enjoyed playing with his favorite dog, Skips.
In addition to his father he was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Burts and Janie Roper.
In addition to his mother he is survived by maternal grandparents, Chrystal Freeman and Bobby Ross (Barbara); maternal great-grandparents, Billy Freeman (Mary) and Nelleen Ross; aunts, Dawn Bumgarner (Rodney), Donna Morrow (John), Crystal Ball (Frank), Paula Freeman (Chris), and Faith Walker (Curtis); and a number of cousins and extended family.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Becky Porter, who became more like a grandmother to Brandon.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m., Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, January 8, 2018 in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Dennis Carswell officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
