Bonnell Queen, 97 of Morganton died Monday, May 29, 2017.  Bonnell was born July 20, 1919 in Cleveland County to the late Richard “Hub” Queen and Sarah Dovie Ann White Queen.  He was a veteran of WWII serving in the US Navy.  Bonnell was a member of First United Methodist Church and retired from Shadowline.

In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife, Texie Lee Mosteller Queen; a son, Toney Queen; siblings, George Franklin Queen, Lucy Maybelle Queen, Robert Pressley Queen, Polly Leona Queen Wortman, Thomas Edison Queen, Fred Miller Queen, Bandy Cullen Queen, Anna Maude Queen White, Minnie Irene Queen Dobbs, and Jack Avero Queen.

Bonnell is survived by his grandsons, Jeff Queen and wife, Holly, of Greensboro and Michael Queen and wife, Kelly, of Apex; great-grandsons, Carter, Hunter, and Michael Queen; a sister, Hetty Harrington of Hiram, GA; and a sister-in-law, Marilyn S. Queen of Immokalee, FL.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Sunday, June 4, 2017 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.  A graveside service will follow at 3:15 p.m. at Burke Memorial Park with Rev. Charlotte Brendel officiating.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
