Bobby Stamey, 84, of Morganton, NC went Home to be with his Lord on Friday, May 19, 2023. He was born on April 6, 1939 in Burke County to the late Kelly Stamey and Mary Sue Duckworth Stamey. He was a member of Catawba Valley Baptist Church and loved to listen to Gospel music. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather and loved his family dearly. Bobby retired from the Morganton Department of Public Safety as a Sergeant after thirty years of service. He enjoyed learning about firearms and was an avid fisherman who enjoyed fishing with his good friend, Vernon Ledford. Bobby’s greatest joy was spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Edith Duckworth Stamey; daughter, Lori Stamey Sailors: sisters, Betty Ledford, Carolyn Cassell, Mary Cook, Dorothy Adams and Nina Huffman.

Bobby is survived by his wife, Wanda Buckner Stamey; children, Todd Stamey, Kelly Stamey (Marilyn), Jason Stamey (Lori); son-in-law, Terry Sailors; step-children, Lynn Bumgarner (Mike), Scott Brackett (Claudia), Tad Brackett, and Misty Palmeri (Gary); sister, Barbara Harrison (Bennett); brother, Larry Stamey (Linda); seventeen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2pm-3pm on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at Catawba Valley Baptist Church. The service will begin in the church at 3pm with Rev. Jessie Lott and Rev. Reese Palmeri officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery. Honors will be provided by the Morganton Department of Public Safety.

Memorial contributions may be made to Catawba Valley Baptist Church.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
