Bobby Louis Stephens, 90, of Morganton, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 19, 2025 at Valor Hospice at the Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville.
Born in Burke County, NC on December 23, 1934, he was the son of the late Paul W. Stephens and Etta Mae Williams Stephens.
Bobby was a veteran of the US Army and a member of Mt. Home Baptist Church. He dearly loved his church, and he served as a deacon, served on numerous committees, and volunteered with church maintenance for 50 years. He was a Mason and a member of the Order of the Eastern Star with his wife, Irilda. Bobby was a jack of all trades and loved to travel and go on trips.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Dawn Stephens (Allen Hart); brothers, Jim Stephens (Jean), Tommy Stephens (Kay), Roger Stephens (Judy), and Donald Stephens (Peggy); sister, Diane Watts (Rex); and numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family.
In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his wife, Irilda Azalea Mull Stephens; brothers, Paul, Jake, Andy, Oren, and Joe Stephens; and two infant brothers.
The graveside service will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, July 28, 2025 at Mt. Home Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. David Orders officiating.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
