Bobby Lee Murphy, 85, of Morganton, NC passed away, Wednesday, November 15, 2023. Born on April 2, 1938, he was the son of the late Robert and Helen Murphy. Bobby was a member of North Morganton Baptist Church for many years. He loved reading the Bible and was reading it for the third time. Bobby also enjoyed fishing, shooting, buying, selling guns, playing the guitar and singing, telling jokes and played semi-pro baseball. Bob was know as the "hey man" on the swap shop.

Bobby is survived by his daughter, Donna Murphy Queen; grandson, Travis Lee Smith (Christy); great-grandchildren, Daegan, Willow, Scarlet; sister, Ann Lowery; nieces and nephews; Mackie Lowery, Angela Alexander, Danny Ray Murphy; great-nieces, Halen, Jessica, Erin; companion and best friend of 47 years, Jackie Branch and her kids, Greg and Troy Branch; and a God sent friend, Preacher Freddy.

In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his brother, Larry Dean Murphy, Glenn Ray Murphy; daughter, Susan Renee Murphy Sigmon.

The family will receive friends from 1pm until 2pm, Sunday November 19, 2023 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the chapel at 2pm with the Rev. Freddy Lindsey officiating. Graveside will be held at 4pm, Monday, November 20, 2023 at Burke Memorial Park.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
