Bobby Joe Cantor, 82, of Morganton, NC, passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2025 at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC.
Born in Caldwell County, NC on May 23, 1943, he was the son of the late Arvil Cantor and Allie Holman Cantor.
Bobby was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church. He enjoyed taking cruises, gardening, and feeding the birds in his backyard, but his happy place was trout fishing. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 59 years, Vivian Fox Cantor; daughter, Barbara Cantor Lowman; sons, Joey Peyronel and Martin Peyronel; grandchildren, Jana Salanoa, Bobbie Danielle Lowman, Michael Joe Lowman, Dazi Buchanan, and Dalton Buchanan; great-grandchildren, Harmony, Kaio, Toa, and Hailey Salanoa, and Mikey Lowman; brothers, Jeff, David, and Randy Cantor; sisters, Pat Hedrick and Vanessa Drum and their spouses; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bobby was preceded in death by his son, Anthony Eugene Cantor; brothers, Ed and Bill Cantor; and sister, Joyce Ward.
The graveside service will be held at 3 p.m., Sunday, August 31, 2025 at Forest Hill Cemetery with Rev. Homer Murdock officiating.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Vivian and family, I am so sorry for your loss. I still have the little red rocking chair that Bobby built for Cody 30 some years ago. He was one heck of a Gardner. Although I only saw pictures but I have never seen tomatoes as big as he grew them. I know it’s going to be hard but God will guide you. Love and prayers. Judy Peyronel
