Bobbie Oxford McFadden Burnett, 92, of Matthews, NC, went home to be with the Lord Wednesday, August 30, 2023.

Born in Burke County, NC on January 1,1931, she was the daughter of the late Lee Vance Oxford and Johnsie Estelle Secreast Oxford.

Bobbie was a member of Holy Comforter Episcopal Church in Charlotte. In her youth Bobbie was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Morganton, NC. As a little girl she loved to visit her mother while she was working at Belk’s. One of her favorite memories was sitting on the second floor of Belk’s overlooking the city of Morganton and working on homework. This sparked a long-time love of Belk’s; where she eventually started working as an adult. Bobbie met her first husband, Jim McFadden, while they were still in high school. They had two beautiful boys together in whom she loved very much and raised to honorable manhood.

Bobbie attended Greensboro Women’s College where she graduated with her Associate’s degree. She was an accomplished ballroom dancer at the silver level. Bobbie met her second husband, Frank Burnett, at a ballroom workshop. They started dating in the Spring of 2000 and fell head over heels in love. They spent many wonderful years together. Bobbie was a fiercely independent, intelligent woman with a forgiving nature, who worked hard to achieve her goals in life. She was charming, poised, beautiful, and elegant.

Bobbie is survived by her husband, Frank John Burnett; sons, Stephen James McFadden and Todd Livingston McFadden; Frank’s daughter, Katherine “Kitty” Belk (Jeff); grandchildren, Cheyenne Colleen McFadden, Dwight Stephen McFadden, Isaac Gunter, and Ivy Gunter.

In addition to her parents, Bobbie was preceded in death by a daughter, Lisa Estelle McFadden at one day of age and two preborn.

A visitation will be held Saturday, September 2, 2023 from 2:00PM to 3:00PM with a Celebration of Life to follow in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
