Billy Ray Arney, 93, of Morganton passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2019. Born in Catawba County, NC on October 2, 1925, he was the son of the late Henry Arney and Cordie Huskins Arney. Mr. Arney was a member of Hartland Baptist Church.
Billy is survived by his wife, Shirley Dancey Arney of the home; children, Kenneth Arney (Alma) of Morganton, Becky Clontz (Harley) of Lenoir, and Brenda Causby (Larry) of Morganton; step-children, Dinah Whisnant (Ronnie) and Barbara McClean (Glenn), all of Morganton; grandchildren, Leslie Clontz, Bradley Clontz, Derek Arney, Kenda Carpenter, Chris Arney, and Tim Pritchard; great-grandchildren, Greyson Carpenter, Elizabeth Arney, Makenzie Carpenter, Callie Arney, and C J. Arney; and a sister, Shirley Reece of Morganton.
In addition to his parents, Billy was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Arney; sons, Tommy Arney and C. J. Pritchard; brothers, Howard Arney, Jack Arney, and George Arney; and sisters, Louise Farr and Vera Adkins.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Saturday, February 23, 2019 at Hartland Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the church with Pastor Todd Smith, Dr. Steve Parker, and Rev. Ronnie Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park.
