Billy Lynn Page of Morganton passed away at Mission Hospital in Asheville on July 7, 2023. Billy was born June 2, 1951 and raised in Sanford NC. He attended Lee County High School and Elon College. For most of his career he worked in Manufacturing and Quality Control. He enjoyed playing golf, reading, classical music and teaching the United Methodist Men’s Bible study at First United Methodist Church in Morganton NC.

He is preceded in death by his parents Zebulon “Billy” and Christine Page.

He is survived by daughter Lauren Batchelor and husband Nick as well as 2 grandsons, Carter and Coleman Batchelor.

Billy was a very active part of First UMC in Morganton. He served on the soup kitchen team, kept track of the Mission Team activities, was involved in the Prison Ministry and led the Tuesday morning Bible Study for the United Methodist Men. He held court at his lunch table at Food Matters nearly every day.

A Celebration of Billy’s life will be held at 2pm, Friday, July 21, 2023 at First United Methodist Church of Morganton with the Rev. Dana McKim officiating. The family will greet friends following the service. The service will be live-streamed beginning at 2 pm, on the Facebook page of First United Methodist Church Morganton (https://www.facebook.com/fumcmorganton) or YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/@firstumcmorganton9267/streams).

The FUMC Men’s Bible Study will serve as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church of Morganton, 200 N. King Street, Morganton NC 28655.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Thank you all for your kind remembrances of my dad. I can’t express my gratitude for the support and love that you’ve shown him. He truly loved living in Morganton and the friends he made at church and Millside Manor. We will miss him so much but will see him again in a better place of no suffering or sadness and that gives us peace.
