Billy Lee Propst

Billy Lee Propst, 55, of Morganton passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 29, 2021.  Born in Burke County, NC on October 19, 1965, he was the son of Phyllis Ann Patterson Propst Gurley and the late Kurt McClure Propst.  Billy was a devoted veteran of the NC National Guard.  He was still active member of the National Guard and served a tour of duty in Kuwait.  He also worked as a self-employed truck driver.

He was a beloved son and brother who loved his family and was a friend to everyone he met.  Billy enjoyed riding motorcycles and spending time with his family and dogs.

Mr. Propst is survived his mother, Phyllis Gurley; sisters, Jeanne Propst and Victoria Propst Howell (Michael); niece and nephews, Briar, Douglas, and Abbey; and a cousin, Mike Propst.

In addition to his father, Billy was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Alva and Ray Patterson; and paternal grandparents, Fritz and Annie Propst.

A gathering of friends will be held from 2 to 3 p.m., Sunday, October 3, 2021 at Sossoman Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to any charity that support wounded warriors.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
