Billy J. “Bill” Denton, 79, of Morganton, NC died Friday, March 6, 2015. Born in Burke County, NC on September 28, 1935, he was the son of the late Fred O. Denton and Annie Lee Mace Denton. Bill was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and was the manager of food services at Drexel Heritage Furnishings.
Mr. Denton is survived by his wife, Barbara Berry Denton of the home; a son, Robin Denton of Morganton; nieces, Judy Swink Watts and her husband, Allen, of Kansas City, KS and Kathy Morgan and her husband, Bill, of Morganton.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by a sister, Chloe Denton Swink.
The funeral will be held at 12:00 p.m., Monday, March 9, 2015 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Larry Cline and the Rev. Don Denton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. prior to the service.
