Beverly Richard Boyd, 75, of Morganton, NC passed away Sunday, September 24, 2017. Born in Burke County, NC on April 25, 1942, he was the son of the late Walter B. Boyd and Ethel Frances Padgett Boyd. Beverly was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a member of Snow Hill United Methodist Church where he loved his church family. He owned and operated Boyd’s Guttering for over 40 years.
A devoted husband and father, Mr. Boyd is survived by his wife, Betty Smith Boyd of the home; a son, Chris Boyd; brothers, Ralph Boyd (Gloria) and Earl Boyd; a sister-in-law, Nina Boyd; and a number of nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
In addition to his parents, Beverly was preceded in death by 3 brothers, Gene, Harold, and Mick Boyd.
The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff of Fresenius Kidney Care, especially Denise Scarborough and Dr. Higerd, for their compassionate care provided to Mr. Boyd.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Snow Hill United Methodist Church. The funeral will follow at noon in the church with the Rev. Richard Magnuson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military honors provided by the N.C. National Guard.
