Betty Watts Secrest, 84, of Morganton, NC went to her Heavenly home to be reunited with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, September 14, 2021. She was born on January 8, 1937 in Burke County to the late Furman Watts and Zela Chapman Watts. She was a member of Enon Baptist Church where she helped with the children’s choir and Girl’s Auxiliary (GA’s). Betty played the piano for Missionary Ridge Baptist Church for several years. She retired from Shadowline. She loved to take care of her family and make clothes for them. She was a “MOM” to all.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Lee Secrest; brothers, Ernest, Jack and Ervin Watts; sister, Beulah Smith.

She is survived by a son, Kevin Anthony Secrest; granddaughter, Chelsi Lester (Justin); grandson, Kelly Secrest; grandchildren, Miley, Sophia and Zalee Secrest, Jaxon Lester; brothers, William Watts and Herman Watts; sisters, Blanche Berry and Luella Wilson.

A graveside service will be at 4:00pm Saturday, September 18, 2021 at Burke Memorial Park with Rev. Gary Garner officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
