Betty Sue Franklin Allen, 91, of Morganton, NC went home to be with the Lord on May 20, 2026. To her family, she was so much more than a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother she was the true heart of their home.

Betty Sue grew up in Morganton as one of nine children born to Hugh and Emmie Whisnant Franklin. Throughout her life, she loved sharing fond stories of her childhood and the close, lifelong bonds she shared with her brothers and sisters. After graduating from Morganton High School, she faithfully maintained close relationships with her schoolmates over the decades. Betty Sue began her career serving as a secretary for the FBI before working at Shadowline. She later dedicated her life to her family as a homemaker, helping to raise and nurture several generations.

Her beautiful love story with her husband, George Allen, began on a blind double date on his birthday. Just six months later, they were married on her birthday, embarking on a lifelong journey filled with love and devotion. Together, they celebrated 60+ wonderful years of marriage before George’s passing.

Betty Sue spent her life faithfully caring for those she loved. As a longtime member of Glen Alpine United Methodist Church, she lived out her faith daily through her kindness, loyalty, quiet strength, and loving heart. She possessed an infectious laugh that could light up any room. She also took great pride in her appearance, always making sure her makeup was perfectly done before leaving the house. She adored listening to Elvis Presley and treasured every single moment spent with her family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George Allen; her son, Randall Allen; her parents, Hugh and Emmie Franklin; and her brothers and sisters.

She leaves behind her daughter, Kim Allen Baldwin (David); her grandchildren, Tania Bass, Austin Jaynes, Gaby Reep (Justin), and Andrew Baldwin (Makayla); and her great-grandchildren, Ciara Bass, Nohlan Jaynes, Skylah Fitzgerald, Barrett Reep, and Georgia Reep. She is also survived by several beloved nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

The cryptside service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, June 20, 2026 at the columbarium at Glen Alpine United Methodist Church with Rev. Logan Miller officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Glen Alpine United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 576, Glen Alpine, NC 28628 or to VIA Health Partners (Founded as Hospice Cleveland County, 951 Wendover Heights Drive, Shelby, NC.
