Betty Lowdermilk Shufford, 74, of Morganton, NC passed away on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Burke Hospice and Palliative Care. She was born on November 28, 1943 in Burke County to the late Robert Lee Lowdermilk and Myrtle H. Lowdermilk. Betty was a member of Zion Baptist Church. She loved her family and genealogy.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Jean Crawley.
Betty is survived by her children, Bobby L. Benfield and wife, Mary, Lynn Smith and partner, Donnie Smith, and Lorrie Stevens all of Morganton; grandchildren, Nicki Blackburn and husband, Tyler, Desiree Huffman, Avery Lowman, Robbie Benfield, Logan Benfield, and Bradley Benfield; great-grandchildren, Gavin, Katelyn, Noah, and Anna; brother, Roy Lowdermilk and wife, Karen of Morganton; and many nephews and nieces.
The family will have a private memorial service at a later date.
In lieu of flowers make memorial contributions to Burke Hospice and Palliative Care, 1721 Enon Road, Valdese, NC 28690.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
