Betty Lou Biggerstaff Parks, 83, of Morganton, NC passed away Saturday, August 24, 2013 following several years of declining health. Born December 31, 1929 in McDowell County, NC, she was a daughter of the late William G. Biggerstaff and Harriet Katherine Crowe Biggerstaff. Betty was an active member of Linville United Methodist Church. She had worked at both Carolina Shoe and Southern Devices, and then retired from Drexel Heritage Furnishings Company. Betty enjoyed traveling to Las Vegas and also New Mexico to visit her friends. Betty loved her canine companions.Left to cherish her memory are sons, William Harrison "Bill" Parks, II and wife, Patsy, and Henry Jackson "Jack" Parks, all of Morganton; grandchildren, Crystal Pritchard and husband, Chris, and Deanna Parks; and a great grandson, Logan Pritchard.In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, William Harrison Parks; brothers, David, Lee, Roy, and Guy Biggerstaff; and sisters, Lucy Hawkins and Letha Stevens.Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, August 27, 2013 at Burke Memorial Park with Rev. Neal Brantley, Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.
