Betty Jean Elder, 76, of Charlotte, NC, gained her heavenly wings on Sunday, May 14, 2023.

Born in Mecklenburg County, NC on March 12, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Dalton Abraham and Mattie Belton Abraham.

Betty was raised in the Baptist faith.

Mrs. Elder is survived by her children, Carla Elder, Carl Elder (Shelia), Tonya Carter, and Latoya Elder; grandchildren, Dre’Darius, DeMarquis, Rheana, Bianca, Jordan, Isaiah, Keon, Syan, Arvin, Ariana, and Elijah; five great-grandchildren; siblings, Mattie Lee McClurkin, Eloise Abraham, Delores Teasley, Roosevelt Abraham, and Johnny lee Abraham; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Elder; sisters, Mary Ellen Alexander, Cathleen Abraham, Lillie Mae Reid, and Janine Mae Jones; and brothers, Earther “Bud” Abraham, Robert Abraham, and Eugene Abraham.

A celebration of Betty’s life will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, May 26, 2023 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
