Betty J. Gutierrez, 83, of Drexel, NC died Wednesday, June 6, 2018. Born in Danville, VA on December 24, 1934, she was the daughter of the late William Dover Stamey and Mary Shuping Stamey. Betty was captain of the girls’ basketball team at Drexel School.
Mrs. Gutierrez is survived by her sons, Kirk Queen of Drexel and Bruce (Marga) Queen of Mechanicsville, VA; and grandchildren, Marissa and Alex Queen.
In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her husband, First Sgt. Ray Gutierrez, USMC, Ret..
The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m., Saturday, June 9, 2018 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The memorial service will follow at 11 a.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Bruce Queen officiating.
