Betty Ann LaFevers Orders, 87, of Glen Alpine passed away Saturday, February 16, 2019.  Born in Burke County, NC on October 11, 1931, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Julia Powell LaFevers.  Betty was a member of Gibbs Chapel Wesleyan Church.  She played the organ and piano at Gibbs Chapel, as well as many other area churches, for over 50 years.  She worked as the school secretary at Glen Alpine Junior High School for over 30 years.  She was an avid art lover and enjoyed collecting antiques, reading, dogs, and traveling.

Betty is survived by her husband, Gerald Wise Orders; and daughter, Annette Wright (Alan), of Morganton.

In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death by her grandson, Phillip Wesley Russ; and sister, Mildred L. Scott.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Gibbs Chapel Wesleyan Church.  The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. in the church with Rev. Cris Uren officiating.  Burial will follow in Glen Alpine Cemetery.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
