Betty Aldridge Harrill

Betty Aldridge Harrill, 87, of Morganton, NC, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2016 at the Burke Hospice House surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Banner Elk, NC on August 29, 1929.

Betty’s mother, Mabel Erwin Aldridge, passed away when she was three years old and Betty, her sister, Ruth, and her brother, Pete, were raised by her grandparents, John and Bessie Erwin.  She graduated valedictorian of her class at Cranberry High School in 1948, and graduated from the Grace Hospital of Nursing in 1951.  Betty touched many lives as a registered nurse at Grace Hospital for forty years working in the emergency room and postpartum department.  She was a longtime member of Asheville Street Baptist Church. 

Betty was married to her loving and devoted husband, L. C. Harrill for sixty-four years.  In addition to her husband, Betty leaves behind two adoring daughters and their families, Linda, Aubrey, Andrew, Rachel, and Stephen Calhoun and Connie and Keith Klein.

Betty was preceded in death by her precious granddaughter, Sally Carswell.

Betty was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, nurse, and friend who will be missed by all that knew her. 

The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 21, 2016 at Asheville Street Baptist Church in Morganton, NC.  The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Doug Goforth and Dr. Tom Bland officiating.  Burial will follow at Forest Hill Cemetery.
