Bertha Church Tweed, 75, of Morganton, NC, went to her heavenly home on Monday, March 16, 2026.
Born in Cocke County, TN on March 13, 1951, she was the daughter of the late Isam E. Church and Essie Gentry Church.
Bertha attended Friendly Freewill Baptist Church and Solid Rock Baptist Church. She had worked at Alba Waldensian, and along with her husband, she owned and operated Tweed Grading and Landscaping.
Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Angie Greene (Chris); grandchildren, Chris Newton (Katelyn), Shelby Greene, and Bailey Greene; great-grandchildren, Waylon Newton, Allison Newton, and William Newton; and brothers, Paul and Charles Church.
In addition to her parents, Bertha was preceded in death by her husband, Harry Glenwood Tweed; daughter, Lula Ann Tweed; brother, Rufus Gentry; and sisters, Mary Roberts and Martha Ann Church.
A graveside service will be held at 12 p.m., Friday, March 20, 2026 at Fairview Methodist Church Cemetery in Hot Springs, NC with Rev. Stacey Layne officiating.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Angie and family, Our thoughts and prayers are with you in this time of mourning. As you all look back and cherish times that were joyfully and even sad. Just remember God is good and his plans are sometimes not easy to understand. But he is in control and his plans will be made perfect.
