Bernice Brittain LaFevers, 84, of Louise St., Morganton died Saturday 28, 2011. Bernice was born March 1, 1927, in Burke County, to the late Lester Samuel Brittain and Edith Luara Branch Brittain. She was a former member of Mount Home Baptist Church where she had taught youth Sunday school. Bernice was the last graduating class of Morganton High School that only went 11 years and was one of the first students at Western Piedmont Community College. She worked at Drexel Heritage for 21 years and retired from BASF with 25 years of service. Bernice had been chairperson of the Senior Citizens Dance Club and the Thursday Night Dance Club at Collette Street Recreation Center.In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Eugene LaFevers; a son, Randall "Randy" LaFevers; a sister, Millie Keller and brothers, Garry, Ted and Ralph Brittain.Bernice is survived by sisters, Betty Jo Phillips of Morganton, Norma Walker of Merritt Island, Florida, and Margaret Hendren of Morganton; a special niece, Diana Keller Espino and many other nieces and nephews.A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at the First Presbyterian Church Chapel, with Rev. Michael R. Bailey officiating. Entombment will follow in the Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church parlor.
