Benny Clyde Yancey, 85, of Morganton, NC passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2025. He was born on October 10, 1939 in Burke County to the late Harley L. Yancey and Brentie Deal Yancey. He was a licensed electrician and worked in construction on big job sites in South Carolina. He also worked at Hanes in Rutherford County. Benny loved to collect antiques and loved to travel. He was a car enthusiast and loved working on cars.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Wilbur Yancey; daughters, Crystal Hallyburton and Cynthia Yancey; a great-grandchild; siblings, Harold Yancey, Buck Yancey, Michael Yancey, Annie McGimpsey, and Lydia Deal; first wife, Betty Robbins Holman; second wife, Zennie Carswell.
He is survived by a daughter, Scarlet Dula (Todd); brother, Harley R. Yancey (Carolyn); fiancée, Ruth Self; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family will receive friends from 1:30-2:30pm on Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at Sossoman Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at 3:00pm at Burke Memorial Park Mausoleum.
