Bennie “Ben” Riddle, 90, of Morganton, NC went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 29, 2025. He was born on July 17, 1935 in Yancey County, NC to Edd Riddle and Sallie Edwards Riddle. He was self-employed as a contractor and built houses here in Morganton. Ben was also a part-time farmer and bought old cars.
In addition to his parents, Ben was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Jo Brittain Riddle; brothers, Buster, Ray, J.C., Tilmon, Ted, Glennie and Lee; sisters, Mary Ema and Mae.
He is survived by his son, Scott Riddle; daughter, Cynthia "Cindy" Ballard (Larry); grandchildren, Kristen Brooks (Adam) and Tanner Ballard; great-grandchildren, Gracie, Baylee and Wyatt.
The family will receive friends from 10am-11am Saturday, November 1, 2025 at Sossoman Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 11am in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home. Burial will follow at Hopewell Baptist Church.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Cindy, I am so sorry for your loss. I know its been a hard time for awhile, but you have always done what you could for your dad. It's always hard to lose a parent. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers. ❤️🙏
Uncle Ben was always a real pleasure to talk with. He loved a good cigar, talking football, and swapping stories about wrestling (nobody topped Ric Flair and the Four Horsemen in his book). Another familiar face for my mom to smile at in heaven.
