Belinda Ruth Bowman, 71, of Nebo, NC, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, September 6, 2025.

Born in Burke County, NC on October 18, 1953, she was the daughter of the late Charles Ben Parks and Nina Gertrude Hicks Park. Belinda had a heart for the Lord. It came from the example that was set for her at an early age when her mother would teach her Bible verses while walking her to the bus stop. She gave her heart and life to Jesus at the age of 9, and she lived that life the rest of her days. Belinda was a member of Mountain Grove Baptist Church. She enjoyed mowing grass, working in flower gardens, working on her tractor. She was a loving person who never met a stranger and would help anyone in need.

Belinda is survived by her beloved husband of 54 years, David “Butch” Bowman; brothers, Randy Parks and Tommy Parks (Gail); sister, Sue Dula (Forest); nieces, Claudette Collins, Pam McIntyre, Kim, Kellie; Terri Powell (Steve), Tammy Porter (Lonnie), Tracy Parks, and Terri Peterson; nephews, Grant Dula (Elizabeth), Jason Parks, and Michael Beck; sister-in-law, Libby Beck; and canine companion, Tucker.

In addition to her parents, Belinda was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Parks.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m., Thursday, September 11, 2025 at Sossoman Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 3 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home with Dr. Marty Jacumin and Dr. David Mills officiating. Burial will follow Oak Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Belinda was the sweetest friend. I always looked forward to seeing her at the Controller’s office, getting a big hug and a smile. She helped me tolerate my job at the ADATC with her sense of humor and funny emails. She amazed me with her strength and faith while battling against the cancer. She was the best! Deepest sympathy to Butch, Tucker, and family.

I will miss this lady. She stood tall and full of spiritual encouragement to all while dealing with her own sickness. What an angel. I had the pleasure of working with her for many years. Those years filled with her friendship, laughter, pranks, crafts and just all-around fun. Gone too soon my friend from this earth but I know you're dancing and enjoying all that heaven has to give you. My prayers for comfort to Butch and the family during this most trying time. See ya in the clouds, my friend.

Oh how I loved Belinda! She was one of the Godliest women I knew. She had a heart full of love for everyone. I attended church with her at a young age and later in life. She was a great mentor. Even through her pain she remained focused on Jesus. She was a blessing to everyone who knew her. My prayers are with you Butch. She loved you and always talked about how amazing you were. Rest in Peace Belinda

Belinda was my best friend in school. She was the first person my mom let me call when we first got a party line phone. We talked at school and on the phone during evenings. Belinda was always happy and positive. She met and married Butch while we were in high school. I will miss her very much. Judy
