Beatrice "Bea" Poteet Hull, 89, of Conover, NC died Sunday, July 24, 2011 following several years of declining health. Born in Burke County, NC on September 20, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Fred Jethro Poteet and Emily Louisa Smith Poteet.A member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Bea grew up in the Enola Community and lived there for many years until she moved into The Willows. Due to declining health, she moved to Catawba County to be in the care of her daughters. She lived in Hickory Manor for one year prior to her death.Bea is survived by her daughters, Retha Beard and husband, Michael, of Hickory, Patricia Pritchard and husband, Carroll, of Morganton, and Etta Dehart Webster and husband, Mark, of Conover; grandchildren; Jenny Beard Cody, Meredith Pritchard Searcy, and Blakeley Caroline Pritchard; great-grandchildren, Dylan Cody, Kendall Rose Cody, Gabriel Searcy, Jacob Searcy, and Isaac Searcy; numerous nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Elizabeth Michaels.In addition to her parents, Bea was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas E. Hull; brothers, Leon Gray "Tim" Poteet, Irvin Poteet, Fred "Ted" Poteet, Jr., Nollie Poteet, and Jessie H. Poteet; and sisters, Geneva P. McCurry, Dorothy P. Poteet, Hester P. Carswell, Sadie P. Cagle, Nellie P. Ross.The funeral will be held at 5:00 p.m., Thursday, July 28, 2011 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Cline officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Palliative Care Center and Hospice of Catawba Valley, 3975 Robinson Road, Newton, NC 28658. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
