Barry Ross Little, 79, of Morganton, NC died Tuesday, November 14, 2017. He was born in Laurens County, South Carolina on October 7, 1938 to the late Bryce Thomas Little and Carrie Lou Ross Little. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Morganton. Barry graduated from Myrtle Beach High School in 1956 and went on to attend Clemson College for two years. After college, Barry joined the US Air Force and attended pilot training at Williams Air Force Base in Chandler, AZ and navigation training at James Connally Air Force Base in Waco, TX. After five years of active duty in the US Air Force and 17 years in the North Carolina Air National Guard, Barry retired as a Major from the US Air Force. He was a member of Phalanx Masonic Lodge #51 in Charlotte, NC. Barry worked for American Thread Company for 30 years as a salesman working in Virginia, Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina. Barry loved making furniture, playing golf and going to the beach with his wife, Jan.
Barry is survived by his wife, Jan N. Scott Little, of the home; stepchildren, Larry Keith Scott and wife, Lisa, and Richard Edward Scott and wife, Andrea; grandchildren, Michael Keith Scott, Virginia Todd Scott, and James Ross Scott; step-grandchildren, Matthew, Gabby, Zachery, and Caine; niece, Luanne Patrick.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Rosanne Little Patrick and brother, Alfred Thomas Little.
The family will receive friends from 1:00pm-2:00pm, Saturday, November 18, 2017 in the fellowship hall of the First United Methodist Church. The memorial service will be at 2:00pm at the church with the Rev. Dana McKim and the Rev. Bob Roach officiating. Inurnment will follow in the First United Methodist Church Columbarium. Military honors will be provided by the United States Air Force and the Caldwell County Honor Guard Group.
