Barbara Tallent, 81 of Morganton, NC went to her Heavenly home on Sunday, September 21, 2025. Born on November 23, 1943, she was the daughter of the late Frances Elizabeth Fredell. Barbara was a member of Gibbs Chapel Wesleyan Church. She worked at Impact Furniture, Neville Hosiery, and retired from Grace Ridge as a CNA. She loved going to ball games with her grandchildren. Barbara loved spending time with her family.
Barbara is survived by her son, James Tallent; grandchildren, Sandy Clark, Victoria Meece, Jessica Tallent, Bradley Tallent, and Cody Tallent; 10 great-grandchildren; sisters, Elizabeth Patton (Randolph), Juanita Xavier, and Sharon Dale (Grant); and brothers, Tony Burgin, Jimmy Gallion (Stella), Paul Mace (Yvonne), and Allen Fredell (Raylene).
In addition to her mother, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, James Lee Tallent; sons, Timothy Tallent, Kenneth Tallent, and James Tallent, Jr; sister, Donna Fredell; and brother, Marcus Mace.
The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m., Saturday, September 27, 2025 at Gibbs Chapel Wesleyan Church. The funeral will be held at 4 p.m. in the church with the Rev. Cris Uren and Rev. Dr. John Terry officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Barbara was a God fearing woman whom loved her family & community dearly. She lived her life serving God. She was a kind & sweet lady. She will be missed by everyone that knew her. My condolences to the family, y'all are in my thoughts & prayers. 🙏🙏❤️

I am so sorry to hear about Barbara’s death. I met her when I delivered Meals on Wheels to a client that she sat with. Barbara will be missed!
