Barbara “Susie” Kirby

Barbara “Susie” Kirby, 75, of Morganton, NC, passed away Saturday, May 6, 2023.

Born in Rowan County, NC on June 29, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Mildred Benson Clement.

Susie was a member of Burkemont Baptist Church. She enjoyed reading, sewing, and crafts, and she loved to shop. She retired as from J. Iverson Riddle Developmental Center as a nurse.

Mrs. Kirby is survived by her husband, Dewey Kirby, Jr.; daughter, Lisa Michelle Karriker; step-children, Deborah Crooks (Garry), Karen Kirby, Jimmy Kirby (Jeanie), Dora “Dody” Kirby, and Joel “Joey” Kirby (Mary Ann); grandchildren, Kelcey, Kaleigh, Antonia, Logan, Travis, Dustin, Bryan, Bodie, Lamara, Brittany, Dylan, Lee, Amy, Siera, Katie, Jayla, and Lacey; eleven great-grandchildren; brothers, Bobby Farmer (Peggy) and Donnie Talbert; sister, Georgia Farmer; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Burkemont Baptist Church. The memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. in the church with Revs. Dr. Eddy Bunton and Dr. David Mills officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Burkemont Baptist Church or to Carolina Caring Hospice.
