Barbara Lackey Epley

Barbara Lackey Epley, 84, of Morganton, NC died Wednesday, July 22, 2015. Born January 24, 1931 in Burke County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Edgar D. Lackey and Leona Harris Lackey. Barbara was a member of St. Matthews United Methodist Church and a former employee of Western Carolina Center.
She is survived by her husband, William Jerome Epley of the home; children, Kenny Epley and wife, Deedra, Sharon Robinson and husband, David, and Patti Epley Cornell and husband, Garry, all of Morganton; grandchildren, Jessie Epley Short and husband, Doug, of Raleigh, NC, Josh Epley, Graham Cornell, and Kristen Robinson, all of Morganton; and two great-grandchildren, Will Short of Raleigh, and Ashlyn Robinson of Morganton.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her sister, Wanda Lackey Wortman of Boulder Creek, CA.
The family will receive friends Saturday, July 25, 2015 from 1:00 until 2:00 p.m. in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Heather Kilbourne officiating. Burial will follow at Burke Memorial Park.
