Barbara Copeland Denton

Barbara Copeland Denton, 83, of Morganton, NC, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2026.

Born in Burke County, NC on October 5, 1942, she was the daughter of the late James Lloyd Copeland and Pearlie Norman Copeland.

Barbara was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She enjoyed living at and taking walks along the beach. Barbara was an avid reader, an excellent cook, and liked to travel.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Sandra Bradshaw; grandson, Joshua Denton (Jessica); great-grandchildren, Kayla, Natalie, Emma, Dreama, Sierah, and Lucy; great-great-granddaughter, Nadia; brothers, Steve Copeland (Mary Ann) and Andy Copeland (Marcia).

In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert ‘Ray” Denton; and son-in-law, David Bradshaw.

A celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, May 16, 2026 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Dr. Jack Hodges and Mr. Donald Denton officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Building Fund.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
