Barbara Christine Janssen, 82, of Morganton, NC passed away on Saturday, May 6, 2023. She was born on December 5, 1940 in Detroit, MI to the late Alfred John Towers and Eleanor Garvie Towers. She was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. She was an avid reader and enjoyed knitting and sewing. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed living at the lake.

She is survived by her husband of sixty years, Gerald Alden Janssen; daughters, Amy Janssen Hill (Jeff), Stephanie Janssen Martineau (Brian), and Courtney Janssen Zabicki (Eric); grandchildren, Alden Reed Hill, Alex Janssen, Tyler Martineau, Trevor and Gretchen Zabicki; sister, Eileen Young (John).

A Celebration of Barbara’s life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, with Rev. Dr. Gary Butterworth officiating. There was a private family religious service held earlier.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 1965 N Powerhouse Rd., Morganton, NC 28655.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
