Barbara Anne Toney, 77, of Morganton died on Wednesday, December 9, 2015. Born November 23, 1938 in Mecklenburg County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Bruce S. Tarlton and Vada F. Gaddy Tarlton. Barbara was a graduate of East Mecklenburg High School Class of 1957. She worked for the Kirby Co. from 1983 - 1998 and the downtown Morganton Home Equity Stores of NC. She was lovingly call "Granny" by grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a devoted member of Faith Freewill Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by daughter, Cynthia Cooper and brothers, Jimmy Tarlton and Orville Tarlton.
Barbara is survived by children, Tracy Fritzler of Denver, NC, and Oscar Hayes Fisher, IV of North Hollywood, CA; grandchildren, Joy Leonard, Nicole Blackburn, Jessica Stroupe, and Danialle Cooper; and nine great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Sunday, December 13, 2015 at Faith Freewill Baptist Church. The funeral will be held at the church at 4:00 p.m. with Rev. Rocky Reese officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Freewill Baptist Church, 1308 Jamestown Rd., Morganton, NC 28655.
