Audna Lindsay Fortenberry, 89, of Morganton, NC died Monday, September 28, 2015.  Born in Cleveland County, NC on July 4, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Claude Lindsay and Carrie Logan Lindsay.  Audna was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church.  She enjoyed traveling and spending time in Pigeon Forge, TN.

Mrs. Fortenberry is survived by her daughter, Linda F. Smith and her husband Tony, of Morganton; grandchildren, Tonya Dowdle and her husband, John, of Monroe, NC and April Mayfield and her husband, Shane, of Morganton; and great-grandchildren, Jacob Mayfield and his wife, Alex, of Waynesville, NC, Landry Mayfield of Morganton, Jared Dowdle of Monroe, NC, and Avery Dowdle of Monroe, NC.

In addition to her parents, Audna was preceded in death by her husband, Dwight Hugh Fortenberry; a son, Bobby Hugh Fortenberry; two sisters, Zelma Newton and Mavis Hunt; and two brothers, Cecil Lindsay and Hazel Lindsay.

The family will receive friends from 12 – 1 p.m., Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center.  The funeral will be held in the Colonial Chapel of the funeral home at 1 p.m. with Dr. Larry Cline officiating.  Burial will follow in Mt. Zion Baptist Church Cemetery in Casar, NC.
