Anna Ruth Scott Wilson, 84, of Morganton died Saturday, November 3, 2018 at Mission Hospital in Asheville.  Born in Burke County, NC on November 9, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Paul H. Scott and Louise Stacy Scott.  Anna was a member of Glen Alpine United Methodist Church and retired from Grace Hospital.  She enjoyed spending time with her family and was up for any adventure, including white-water rafting at age 76.  She was a fan of the Atlanta Braves and the Carolina Panthers.  Anna had an infectious sense of humor and was a source of much laughter for her family, friends, and co-workers.  She was cheerful, whimsical, and always humming a tune.  Anna was the wife of legendary football coach, the late Ralph “Jug” Wilson, and cherished her role as a coach’s wife.  She was a second mother to many and influenced lives with her motherly wisdom.

In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Wilson was preceded in death by 3 brothers and 3 sisters.

Anna is survived by her daughters, Cindy Wilson Bennett of Morganton, Polly Wilson of Glen Alpine, Mylinda Wilson of Ruidoso, NM, and Anna Scott Wilson of Morganton; son, Ralph Edward Wilson, Jr. and wife, Vonda Surratt Wilson, of Atlanta, GA; grandson, Ralph Wilson, III of Chicago, IL; and sisters, Cliffie Thomson of Front Royal, VA and Rosemary Renstrom of Virginia Beach, VA.

The memorial service will be held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Glen Alpine United Methodist Church with Rev. Barbara Boyd Mayo officiating.  Please join the family for coffee and desserts in the church’s Life Enrichment Center following the service.

Memorial contributions may be made to Glen Alpine United Methodist Church General Budget or Food Pantry.

Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
