Anita Powell Fowler, 87 of Carolina Rehab Center, Connelly Springs, NC died Saturday, December 23, 2006 at Valdese General Hospital following a period of declining health. Born in Burke County, NC, she was a daughter of the late O.B. and Nannie Cooper Powell. For many years she owned and operated Anita’s Beauty Salon in Valdese, and she was a member of Christ United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Foston Ivey Fowler; brothers, Charles and J. B. Powell; and a sister, Myrtle Williams.
Surviving are a daughter, Penny Scott and her husband, Gary of Raleigh; grandchildren, Dr. April Scott of Chicago and Katherine Scott of Raleigh; brothers, Thompson Powell and John Powell both of Drexel; sisters, Odessa Clark of Drexel, Ermine Abee of Georgia, and Rebecca Dalmas of Rutherford College; and a number of nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 26, 2006 at Christ United Methodist Church with Rev. Larry Fletcher officiating. Burial will follow in Drexel Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:15 until 11:00 a.m. Memorial gifts may be made to Christ United Methodist Church, P. O. Drawer 38, Drexel, NC 28619. Sossoman Funeral Home is assisting the family.
