Alvin “Lee” Turner, 69, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 3, 2026. Born in Burke County, NC on August 19, 1957, he was the beloved son of Maxine Turner and the late James Gilbert Turner.
A dedicated member of Hopewell Baptist Church, Lee was a steadfast servant throughout his life. He devoted 30 years of his career to law enforcement with the Burke County Sheriff’s Office. After retirement, he continued to stay active, taking on various jobs that kept him engaged and fulfilled.
Lee found joy in the simple pleasures of life. Whether it was a trip to Dollywood, camping with loved ones, or cheering on his grandchildren during their sporting events, family was always at the heart of his happiness. His infectious sense of humor and love for a good joke brought laughter to those around him, making every moment spent with him a cherished memory.
In addition to his mother, Lee leaves behind a devoted wife of 44 years, Tamara Smith Turner; two children, Jessica Turner Farkas and her husband, Scott, and Justin Lee Turner; and his adored grandchildren, Theo Farkas and Molly Farkas. He also leaves behind numerous extended family members and friends who will treasure their time with him.
A memorial service celebrating Lee’s life will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, November 7, 2026, at Hopewell Baptist Church, with Elder Alex Cobb officiating. The Burke County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard will provide honors at the service. Following the memorial, the family invites friends to join them in the church fellowship hall for a time of remembrance and reflection.
Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
