Alma Moore, 87, of Burke Long Term Care in Morganton died Wednesday, April 1, 2009 at Britthaven following a period of declining health. She was born September 10, 1922 in Burke County, NC, and was a daughter of the late Joseph William Moore and Barbara Jane Cook Moore. Alma had lived with her father whom she had tenderly and lovingly cared for all of his 89 years. She was a faithful member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church and took great pride in her certificates of attendance. Alma had a big heart and sweet smile, and fondly remembered everyone’s birthdayShe is survived by a brother, J.C. Moore, and sisters, Anne Stewart and Virgie Cook, all of Morganton; and a large number of nieces and nephews.In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers, Walter, Cossie V., and Paul Moore; and sisters, Donnie Tolbert and Mary Childers; and a step-sister, Sudie Walker.Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 4, 2009 at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Dr. Larry Cline officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday one half hour before the service.
