Allen Farrell "Buck" Lingerfelt

Allen Farrell "Buck" Lingerfelt, 69, of Morganton, NC died Sunday, January 12, 2014. Born in Cleveland County, NC on August 17, 1944, he was the son of the late John Daniel Lingerfelt and Odya Margaret Gantt Lingerfelt. Buck was a U.S. Marine veteran of the Vietnam War and attended St. Matthews United Methodist Church. He retired from Dana Corporation after 30 years as the maintenance supervisor of third shift and was a former employee of Triangle Contractors. He enjoyed going on trips to the Midwest to hunt, and visit friends. He also loved his tractor and farming.Buck is survived by his special friend and companion, Frances Louise "Lu" Franklin; sister, Jonnie L. Houck and her husband, Howard, of Morganton; two nieces, Andrea Marie Houck of Arlington, VA and Tessa Mary Houck of Morganton; a great-nephew, Carson Houck Sheffer; a great-niece, Abby Alaina Perlman; Lu’s children, Heath Benfield and Kim Benfield; Lu’s grandchildren, Maegan Suttles and Malachi Gouge.In addition to his parents, Allen was preceded in death by a brother, Rickey Dan Lingerfelt.The funeral will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 17, 2014 in the Colonial Chapel of Sossoman Funeral Home with the Rev. Neill Shaw officiating. Burial will follow in Burke Memorial Park with military honors provided by the US Marine Corps and the Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard.
