Alice "Pauline" Lehn, 73, of Morganton died Monday, December 3, 2012 at her residence. Born in Caldwell County, NC on June 11, 1939, she was the daughter of the late Paul Eagle Steel and Ruby Gertude Ford Steele. Pauline attended North Morganton United Methodist Church. She had a real love of family and neighbors, and she would say her greatest accomplishment was getting her three children through college. Although Pauline worked in management in the textile industry for many years, she found great personal reward serving as a special needs one-on-one teacher with autistic children and working in many Burke County schools.She is survived by her children, Debra Lehn Heintzleman and her husband, Tom, of Grand Rapids, MI, Michael Lehn of Morganton, and Susan Lehn of Morganton; grandchildren, Kelly Heintzleman, Ryan Heintzleman, Olivia Lehn, Matthew Lehn, and Phillip Lehn; a sister, Nancy Sue Smith; a nephew; and a number of nieces.In addition to her parents, Pauline was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Steele.The memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 8, 2012 at North Morganton United Methodist Church with Rev. Neill Shaw officiating. The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service.Memorial contributions may be made to Susan G.
