Alice Joann Bowen

Alice Joann Bowen, 80, of Morganton, NC went to be with the Lord on August 25, 2014. She was born in Logan County, WV on Nov. 22, 1933 and was a daughter of the late John Edward Estep and Mossie Magaline Rutherford Estep. Alice was a faithful member of Faith Freewill Baptist Church who enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family.
Surviving are her husband, Lafe Bowen of the home; her children, Gregory Lafe Bowen and his wife, Donna Gail, and Alice Rose Queen Barker; grandsons, Robert Joseph Queen and wife, Steffanie, of Hickory, Gregory James Bowen of Washington, Shawn Gregory Bowen of Morganton; John David Queen and wife Joy of Logan WV, and Jeremy Wade Bowen of Man, WV; great-grandchildren, Hannah Brook Queen of Hickory and Brady Alexander Queen of Logan, WV; brothers, Jimmy Estep of Noblesville, IN and Jack Estep of Clarksville, TN; sisters, Jacqueline Ray of San Antonio, TX, Lou Ray and husband, Elwin, of Jacksonville, FL, Vivian Marshburn and Linda Brown both of Chinquapin, NC; special friends, Etta Butler; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Alice was preceded in death by brothers, Lewis, Frankie, and John Estep and by a sister, Bonnie Colegrove Estep.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 29, 2014 at Faith Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Rocky Reese officiating. Sossoman Funeral Home and Crematory Center is assisting the family with the arrangements.
