Albert John Fletcher, 95, of Morganton, NC went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 21, 2017.  Born in Watauga County, NC on November 29, 1921, he was the son of the late Thomas Spencer Fletcher and Rosa Harmon Fletcher.  Albert was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather who dearly loved his family.  He enjoyed gardening and working in his basement workshop, doing woodworking and fixing things for his family.  He also loved working on his Harley Davidson motorcycle, which was his pride and joy.  Mr. Fletcher worked as a band-saw operator at Drexel Heritage Furniture for 53 years.

Albert is survived by his wife of 63 years, Clarcia “Nell” Johnson Fletcher of the home; children, Herman Fletcher and wife, Nancy, Beverly Fletcher Woodel and husband, Albert, and Danny Fletcher and wife, Karen; grandchildren, Fletcher Woodel, Ally White, Monica McGee, and Martin McGee; and a number of nieces, nephews, and extended family.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Fletcher was preceded in death by brothers, Howard, Boyd, Don, Eugene, Charlie, Robert, and Arthur Fletcher; sister, Faye Fletcher Mynatt and Ruby Fletcher Riddle; and nephews, Tony Fletcher, Gene Fletcher, and Bill Mynatt.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2pm, Friday, March 24, 2017 in the sanctuary of First Baptist Church (502 W. Union St., Morganton).  The memorial service will follow in the church with the Rev. Tom Lineberger officiating.
